Three presentations will be offered during each of the time periods. You may choose to attend two of the following three topic presentations:

  1. The New IRS Form 5500

The reports have been completely revised for 1999 reporting years, and the IRS will no longer be responsible for processing the filings. Come learn what you need to know about the new processing from the author of one of the best known manuals on 5500 preparation.
  2. Prescription Benefits Management
    Patricia Sirowich, Express Scripts
    Pharmacy costs continue to rise. Ms. Sirowich will explain how clinical services, formularies and benefit plan design help to offset health care costs.
  3. Sexual Harassment - A New Awareness
    Lindy Korn, Diversity Training Workplace Solutions, Inc.
    Ms. Korn will provide an overview of how to prevent, detect and address sexual harassment issues in the current workplace environment.

  1. Paperless Administration -~ Using New Technologies

    What are legal and practical issues in using interactive computer systems accessed by telephone, intranet or internet to communicate with participants in a 401(k) plan? What technology is available to plan sponsors?
  2. Health Plan Basics for the Year 2000
    Cynthia A. Hammer, Nova Healthcare Administrators
    Eileen McCarthy, Univera Healthcare
    Elizabeth R. Schreier, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Western New York
    This workshop will review the basics of Health Plans. It will help you to make sense of point of service plans, in and out of network benefits, exclusive provider organizations, self-funding, fully insured, experience rated, HMO, indemnity plans and retiree coverage.
  3. Fiduciary Responsibility
    Mark E. Brand, Philips, Lytle, Hitchcock, Blaine & Huber, LLP
    The focus of this workshop will be on common areas of potential liability for retirement plan fiduciaries and approaches to avoid or reduce that liability.
  4. Retirement Plan In-Service Distributions and Loans
    Peter K. Bradley, Hodgson, Russ, Andrews, Woods & Goodyear, LLP
    Nancy Furno, Moog Inc. This workshop will examine issues an employer should consider when deciding whether and how to allow inservice withdrawals and loans from a retirement plan. It will address practical concerns and legal requirements that must be satisfied.
